Typesetting #

Typesetting is the practise of creating physical documents (and these days, replacements for them like PDFs or webpages) out of text. Rather than a “plain text” file, which contains all the characters but no information about how they should be displayed, typesetting makes all the decisions about font, font size, placement, headings, paragraph spacing, etc. LaTeX is the typesetting system I am most familiar with.

  • Typst seems to be being mentioned more and more as a contender for the next generation of typesetting systems after LaTeX.
