Since my move to London in 2023, I have been trying to get a little better acquainted with the national pastime here, which is obviously football. I grew up with cricket as my sport, and it’s still the sport closest to my heart, but I am finally developing an interest in and an understanding of football, something which eluded me until now. I am enjoying the massive network of information that you need to draw on to really understand football: the clubs, the countries, the leagues, the cups, the players, the managers, the transfers, the fans, all of which happen against the backdrop of games, which to me seem to be a little bit less important (and often less interesting) than everything else. Football creates stories.
