Synthesisers #

Synthesisers are an interesting intersection point between music, mathematics and programming. I have played with them a bit over the years and I own an OP-1 by Teenage Engineering.

  • Orca, an interesting-looking synthesiser, or more accurately livecoding environment.
  • A fantastic article by Charles Petzold about his adventures creating electronic music, starting in the late 60s. This quote really jumped out at me:

    I originally started messing around with making electronic music instruments because I heard tunes in my head that I wanted to hear for real. Sometime in 1982, the tunes stopped, and they’ve never come back.
