Conlangs #

Constructed languages, or conlangs, were one of my main interests as a teenager. I still find the idea of a single mind constructing a language fascinating and have had a few ideas for conlangs myself over the years.

List of interesting constructed languages #

Here are some of my favourites that I have found online over the years. There has been a wonderful little community of linguistics nerds all over the internet for several decades.

  • Alashian
  • Fneise
  • Gja-zym-byn (gzb)
  • Ithkuil is one of the most remarkable things I’ve ever found created by someone self-taught.
    • Some updates to the Ithkuil constructed language.
  • Itlani
  • Kahtsaai
  • Novegradian
  • Okuna
  • Sajem Tan
  • Srinawesin, a constructed language spoken by dragons.
  • Toaq, a new loglang that seems very interesting.
  • Yesqur (for instructional purposes)
  • A nice collection of random linguistics stuff that is useful for constructing languages.
  • The Language Construction kit.
  • A “choose your own conlang adventure” book, taking you through the common decisions involved in creating a language.
  • Fiat Lingua, a fantastic source of conlang stuff.
